On-line Pharmacy

May 5th, 2008

Times have indeed changed.  We’re getting too spoiled if you know what I mean.  But I’m not complaining.  Take shopping, for example.  Gone are the days when people have to get out of their homes to buy something.  Now, practically everything can now be bought on-line…clothes, shoes, electronics, even medicines.  Have you ever tried buying medicine from an online pharmacy?  I have relatives who have and I can tell they are very satisfied with this brand of shopping.  It’s very convenient for them!  And you very well know what goes with online pharmacies…online prescriptions.

I hear the leading on-line pharmacy si E-Drugstore.Md.  They offer premium prescriptions for pain relief, skin care, sleeping problems, women’s health, men’s health, influenza and a lot more. They only dispense US-FDA approved prescription medications and their physicians and pharmacists are all US-licensed.  We are very well aware that fake medicines are being sold in a lot of places.  Well, this particular on-line pharmacy guarantees that all their medicines are genuine.  They buy direct from US-drug companies, so their medicines are US-made, and have I said FDA-approved?

E-Drugstore.Md assures its customers of a convenient, private and safe way of buying prescription medications on-line, as it should be.  And they offer free on-line medical consultation, too!

Such is the convenience brought to us by today’s technology.  Is there even anything that isn’t available on-line yet?

Daing na Bangus (Milkfish Marinated in Vinegar & Garlic)

May 5th, 2008

We were in milkfish (bangus) heaven last Friday.  ;)  It’s amazing how something as simple as fried milkfish brought us ever familiar and ever comfortable feelings of being home.

For lunch, we ate the tail half and for dinner, the head half of the milkfish.  We had shrimp paste (bagoong) and sliced tomatoes for our dipping sauce.  A plate of hot steaming rice completed our meal.  *sigh*  We ate way toooo much last Friday, I tell you!

The kitchen was a virtual war zone.  That normally is the case when I’m frying something…specially fish,  Milkfish is one of the more unforgiving choices for frying.  Ugh!  Frying and I just don’t mix.  But I’m getting the hang of it, really.  ;)

It had to take a move to the US for me to realize how simple this is to make.  Back home, I would have probably opted buying the marinated ones already.  Hee hee.  Just as my Mom taught me, I first rubbed the fish with salt and then allowed it to marinate in garlic (I used lots, garlic loving people that we are!) and vinegar.  I fried it just in time for lunch/dinner.

This will definitely be making regular appearances at our dining table. ;)

Self-Defense Fashion

May 5th, 2008

I have a good friend who is a Karate black belter.  She is now based in San Francisco and this coming Mother’s Day is her first.  She gave birth only last year and the last time we talked, she told me she’s ready to get back into fighting form.

Having heard that, I thought It would be wonderful if I got her Martial Arts Gear for Mother’s Day.  I stumbled upon AWMA.com and was surprised to find self-defense gear, which to me, looked so fashionable!  They even carry the only shoes of its kind that can be worn on the dojo floor…Hy-Gens shoes.  My problem now is I can’t decide what item to get my friend…new uniform, belt, sports bag, chest guard, thigh guard…there’s just too many to choose from.

I hope I don’t end up unnecessarily buying something for myself!  Come to think of it, I might actually find a chest guard useful in the kitchen.  It does become a virtual war zone when I’m frying something. ;)

Hot Men in the Kitchen

May 5th, 2008

Meeya tagged me for this Hot Men meme.  I was looking for a meme that would sit nicely with this site…along with the paid ads (hahaha!), and realized there’s an interesting one that would.   Hee hee!  Meeya and I even talked about it and agreed it would work. ;)  So here it is.  First, the rules:

{begin copy}
It’s up to you how narrate your stories but there are two rules:

1.Post pictures (I want to see what all the hotness about is.)

2. Keep the linky linky alive :D Link the post where you wrote about the topic so women can find more drool-worthy men.

Hot Men List From:
1. Aggie 2. Thea 3. Litzie 4. Joy 4. Mich 5. Em 6. Maver 7. May 8. Meeya 9. Weng

Tag all the people you want!

{end copy}

Here they are, “5 Hot Men in the Kitchen”.

1.  Gordon Ramsay

So he runs Hell’s Kitchen and he has a temper, to put it mildly.  But look at him in this picture…so sweet, yeah?!  He seems very endearing when he’s blood is not boiling because of the executive chef wannabes in HK (Hell’s Kitchen..not Hong Kong :P).  I was able to catch him in the  Ellen Degeneres show a few months back, and he just seemed like a totally different person, very casual in a shirt and jeans ensemble and very relaxed while cooking with Ellen, who warned him by saying, “Don’t shout at me!”.  Hahaha! :)

2.  Bobby Flay

I only learned to “appreciate” Bobby Flay when I saw him in Throwdown.  The very first show I saw of him back home is “Hot Off the Grill”, which, I’m sorry to say, I found a little boring.  So I never watched it.  Hee hee.  And then in Iron Chef America, he’s so hyper!..cutting himself along the way, or slipping, etc.!    But I saw Bobby in a differently light in Throwdown.  Relaxed, down to earth, your typical next-door-cutie with a sheepish smile. ;)  Now, I always want him to win in Iron Chef America and silently hoping he’ll win his throwdowns.  Now, tell me how many restaurants he has.  That makes him even hotter!  Hahaha!

3. & 4.  Bobby Deen and Jamie Deen

          Bobby                                Jamie

Truth be told, I don’t really know anything about these boys, er, men, except that they’re Paula Deen’s sons.  So I’m shallow!  Fry me! :P

5.  Jamie Oliver

Why Jamie Oliver?  Because Meeya twisted my arm to include him here.  I could have sworn Meeya probably fell of her seat when I told her I didn’t know Jamie Oliver.  Do I see more people falling off their seats?   Boil me! :P  And of all the shows, I only saw Jamie for the first time in Oprah’s The Big Give…a cooking show…not!!!  Hee hee!

I promise to get to know Bobby & Jamie Deen and Jamie Oliver better. ;)  And I mean their chefly credentials. :D

Feel free to snag this tag, but for the fun of it, I’m tagging Abby, Thess and Dang. :D

Scoring with Credit Scores

May 5th, 2008

I got a call from a long-time friend, N,  who is now based in Washington (State).  He came to the US a few months before we did.  He excitedly told me that he’s now looking around for a new car as he has already saved enough money for a reasonable downpayment.  And since we have only recently bought a new car, he was asking me for tips.

Get your credit score first,” was what I told him.  Really, here in the US, your credit score, if good, is your passport to getting good rates for anything, specially a car.  If it isn’t so good for whatever reason, then things get a little more complicated.  And for a while, he was silent.  He then asked me where he could get that info.  Immediately, I headed to my laptop and Googled away.  One site I came across was UnionCreditReports.com.

The site is very helpful, specially for people like us, who are new to the ways of Uncle Sam. :)  Everything that a person needs to know about credit cards, loans, credict scores and establishing a credit history is there.  It also offers  3-free credit report and score.  Any questions one has about credits and the like, the site will answer for free.  I also appreciate how they give books and articles on credit.  Here’s an example of an article that I found:

“It’s well-known to everybody that there are a lot of acts that protect credit and financial right of consumers. It is even allowed to apply for a credit card in spite of a person’s age, race or religion. When you want to dispute with your credit card companies you know that there are a lot of acts that protect your rights. All the acts are familiar to credit cardholders. However there are some exceptions.

There is the so-called Equal Opportunity Act that protects consumers against sexual discrimination. One of the major credit card companies Visa has created credit cards in cooperation with the big lesbian company Olivia.

Olivia credit cards offer rewards for the dollars spend on purchases. The collected points can be redeemed for the services and merchandise.

Besides, the cardholders can redeem for Olivia dollars to pay for trips. Olivia credit cards give a chance to get discounts in the places where gays and lesbians prefer to spend their time.

What’s more the collected points can be exchanged for air tickets and cash back. So no matter whether you are a businessman, a student or a housewife, you have a wonderful chance to profit from these cards.

The interest rates of Olivia credit cards can be different. That depends on your credit score and your credit history.”

Before we said our good-byes, N thanked me for saving him a lot of time and trouble.  It wasn’t too long ago when hubby and I were the ones wondering about credit scores.

WS #9: Pappasito’s Cantina

May 5th, 2008

Yesterday, 04 May, marked the first anniversary of our (my daughter and me) move to Texas.  Hubby celebrated his on 09 February.  I can’t believe it’s already been a year since we left the Philippines!  To celebrate, we had lunch at  Pappasito’s for some Tex-Mex feasting.  We’ve already heard quite a bit about Pappasito’s and it was about time we gave it a try.

Is it safe to say that chips and salsa are the official appetizer in Tex-Mex restaurants?  This was on the house.  We would have loved a sour cream type of dip, too! :)

Abby chose corn dogs from the child’s menu.  She loved it, but as always, didn’t finish all of it.  She was thrilled with the criss-cut fries.

I had the Riviera: spicy shrimp enchiladas with chipotle cream and grilled Tijuana-style shrimps.  I was surprised that it wasn’t spicy at all.  But I wasn’t really disappointed.  It was creamy and cheesy, indeed.  Definitely not for the lactose intollerant.  Hahaha!

Hubby ordered Rico, a Tex-Mex combo of beef and chicken fajita enchiladas with meat and red chile sauce.  It was good, according to hubby, but, between the beef and chicken fajitas, he preferred the beef.  According to hubby, it was tastier. :)

I mentioned some time ago that Chuy’s is our favorite Tex-Mex restaurant. HOw does Pappasito’s fare? The food is good, really. But honestly, we can’t decide which is better because we thought the food tasted the same. :D How about a tie? :)

I have another WS entry: my suddenly camera shy little girl.  More Weekend Snapshot HERE.

Have a great new week, y’all!
