If The Shoe Fits
I have a dear friend, M, who’s celebrating her birthday in the next couple of days. She is now based in New Zealand and It has been a while since we last saw each other. I really want to surprise her with a present and I think I know just what she would like…shoes! If some girls can’t get enough of bags or jewelry, this particular friend of mine, believes there’s no such thing as too many shoes.
As always, I googled my way to the newest shoe styles and trends and one of the sites I landed on was Infinity Shoes. And true to its name, it has an infinite selection of shoes to choose from. A lot of the brands it carries are already familiar to many: Birkenstock, Clarks, Camper, Dr. Martens, Keds, Merrell, and Timberland. Some of the others, on the other hand, I still need to be familiar with: Mizmooz, Bronx, Blowfish, Ed Hardy, Eric Michael, Minnetonka, Privo, Seychelles, Tsubo, Toms, etc.
I’ve narrowed down my choices to three. From the Tsubo shoes, I think the Celini style will be ideal for the office. I lalso like the green Ladies First style from the Seychelles shoes because my friend loves green and green casual shoes should match the oh so many greens in her closet. And the third, since M loves boots, I think the minnetonka boots will suit her well, too.
Choices, choices, choices. I might as well just ask her which one she wants. That’ll save me a lot of time. ![]()

McDonald’s Premium Coffee
Hubby and I are big coffee fans, but we usually just brew our own coffee at home. Buying signature coffee on a regular basis can easily bore a hole in one’s pockets, so buying from either Starbucks or Seattle’s Best Coffee (SBC) has become a rarity…a real treat when we do. Sometimes though, we have to have a quick caffeine fix, specially on a roadtrip. And a couple of times, we found ourselves going to the McDonald’s drive thru for this…

Well, it’s McDoanld’s Coffee so you can’t really expect much…but it’s cheap so… :P Hahaha! Hubby prefers the Regular blend, and I, Hazelnut. They grow on you. :D We never liked their Vanilla though, which we thought always tasted funny. We were able to snag some SBC coupons at Borders yesterday. I see real coffee in for me in the near future. In the next couple of days perhaps?

TMA #2: Random Three Things
Today on “That’s My Answer”:
What random three things did you do this weekend?
As I have mentioned in my Weekend Snapshot entry, we had a wonderful lunch at Tokyo Steak House and Sushi Bar. And then, we spent a great deal of time at Borders where I was about to buy a few reads. In the evening, we had dinner and celebrated Mother’s Day at my friends house.

Baby Fashion
I am currently organizing my photo archives and while at it, I decided to go back to my daughter’s baby pictures. My, I can’t believe she was ever so little and so fragile! And her clothes, they’re just so cute and precious. Baby clothing for today’s babies are definitely so much more fun and better than the ones from my time. That reminds me, I have a baby shower to attend in two weeks. Am I gonna have a lot of fun shopping for a gift! :) Did my friend say she was having a boy…or a girl? Darn, I have to figure that out first. Hee hee. ![]()

Housing Lingo
I don’t know how long exactly, but for some time now, news in all types of media, from tv, radio, newspapers to the internet, have something to say about the current housing slump in the US. Words like mortage crisis, mortgage lenders and home equity are always mentioned. Truth be told, this is something that I’ve only taken a keen interest on just recently. Friends who have already bought their own houses have been quick to suggest that now is the time to buy. Well, it’s not that easy. But I know our time will come…slump or no slump. ![]()

WS #10: Mother’s Day at Tokyo Steak House
Yesterday was the first time we celebrated Mother’s Day here in Austin. Last year, we didn’t celebrate because I was in a very sullen mood as my Mom flew back to Manila on Mother’s Day after a week-long stay with us. I was just too sad.
This year, we made sure we got out of the house. :) We had lunch at our favorite Japanese Restaurant, Tokyo Steakhouse.

Abby had her usual Tempura Shrimp platter with a side order of white rice, please. This is actually an item from the appetizer list. ;)

Hubby, on the other hand, had a sushi platter….

… and gyoza (pork pot stuckers).

It took a while for my order to arrive, the longest we had to wait for food in this restaurant ever. To make up for the delay, our server gave us 2 complimentary cups of fried hibachi rice and a complimentary upgrade of my white rice to fried hibachi rice.

I ordered a teppanyaki platter of chicken, shrimp and salmon. *sigh* As always, everything was just perfect. I especially loved the sweetness of the sauce that was brushed on the salmon.

For dessert, we had tiny, as in TINY, cups of cheesecake. It was so tiny that by the time Abby was finished with hers, she came after mine. Hahaha! I could only guess who good it tasted.
We always find ourselves celebrating special occasions at Tokyo Steakhouse. And rightfully so, because the place never disappoints and besides, we are such big fans of Japanese food. ;)
I have more Mother’s Day weekend snapshots HERE. More of Weekend Snapshots HERE.
