Shop Shield
Identity theft and credit card fraud are two of the leading crimes here in the US. It’s scary, really. This is the very reason why I avoid shopping on-line and using my credit card. Then again, hubby and I are trying to build credit history and one of the best ways to do that is to use our credit cards. *sigh*
Another issue, too is that a lot of websites require visitors to sign-up or register so priveleges and services, like free email accounts, on-line albums, video uploads, etcetera, can be availed off. In all of these online activities, shopping and registration, we can never really tell how secure our personal information will be, however much they claim that information sent are secured and will not be shared to third parties.
I don’t know how effective it is, but there is such a thing as Shop Shield, which supposedly allows one to leave no trace whatsoever of one’s identity and keeps personal information completely secure. Shop Shield subscribers can create, manage, usernames passwords, and get anonymous e-mail addresses for any site for free. It also guarantees protection from email fraud, spam, phishing, and viruses.
How does Shop Shield do it? In a nutshell, they replace one’s personal identity information so that one becomes anonymous. So when you shop on-line, company insiders with database and hackers can’t steal your name, email-address, password, etc. And since your personal information wasn’t disclosed, companies can’t sell them to third parties.
If you want security, you can sign up for Shop Shield. Did I mention that it’s free?! ![]()

WW #18: SBC’s Chocolate Coffee Crunch

We were at Borders last Sunday and decided to make use of a Seattle’s Best Coffee Coupon. For the purchase of a 16 or 20 oz blended drink, we get another drink of equal or lesser value for free. ;) Hubby and I both had one of their newest blended drinks, Chocolate Coffee Crunch. Yes, it is possible to get your chocolate, coffee, and summer cooler fix in one blended drink. My only problem is the “crunch” in this blended drink. They are the black dot-like thingies you see in the JavaKula cup. They kinda get stuck between the teeth. Not pretty, I tell you. Just watch out for that “minor detail” when you decide to order this drink.
Abby enjoyed a blended drink, too, my other WW entry.
Click here for more of Wordless Wednesday. :) Yeah, I’ve been ignoring the wordless bit. Hahaha!

On Water, Filters and Faucets
We’re blessed in that this townhouse we’re renting is furnished with the must-have major appliances: refrigerator, dishwasher, stove/oven, microwave, washer and dryer. We love the fridge because it has a built in water and ice dispenser. The thing is, of late, the filter has gotten a bit costly. It now costs around $50.00 and we have to replace it every 3 months. This has left us to consider buying a hot/cold water dispenser, which, we think, is a worthwhile investment. Then again, if we’re going to use the ice from our fridge anyway, we’ll still have to replace the filter just the same. So upto now, we haven’t reached a decision yet.
Hubby was given a number of water filters by a co-worker. Ones that can be attached to kitchen sink faucets. Too bad we can’t use them because they are not compatible with our faucet. We are so tempted to take out current kitchen faucet, replace it with a new one and just re-attach the original faucet when it’s time for us to move to another home. I’ve actually already started windowshopping for Delta faucets. Oh well. We’ll have to see how this will all come together. Hee hee. ![]()
