Mango Smoothie

On our way home from Abby’s gym class (or from anywhere for that matter), we always pass by Tropical Smoothie Cafe, which is just a stone’s throw away from where we live.  Abby asked me to buy her a smoothie.  I proposed to just make her some at home.  Thankfully, she agreed.

I originally planned on making a banana smoothie.  I didn’t realize, however, that my bananas are no longer any good.  Fortunately,  I still have one lonely piece of mango.  Since mangoes here are huge, I was able to make enough smoothies for hubby, Abby and me.

I served Abby’s in one of her rocket ship cups (from Denny’s) and Hubby’s in a regular glass, not in a champagne glass.  Hee hee!

To  make, just throw in the mango slices, sugar (according to your desired sweetness), crushed ice and milk in a blender and blend for a few seconds.  Voila!  You just got yourself a serving of fruit and milk (and sugar, too!)!  Slurp!  Slurp! ;)

XFlowsion

Maintaining a healthy weight has been a constant struggle for a lot of people, including me.  This site is proof that I simply love food.  I love to talk about it and boy, do I love to eat it.  Hee hee.  I’ve done quite a lot of things already to achieve that elusive ideal weight and figure.  I did succeed several times, only to lose control all over again a few months later.  I so want to regain control and BE in control!  I currently have gym membership, loads of workout videos, not to mention a Wii Fit, all of which are craving for but a few minutes of my attention.

I know what it takes to achieve what I want.  The problem lies in keeping the momentum up when on an exercise/work-out program.  I guess that’s why my workout videos are gathering dust.  After a while, they get a little boring and I get a little lazy.  What I want is a workout that is effective, fun, offers variety, takes only a few minutes and need not be done on a daily basis, 3-4 time a week tops!

XFLOWSION promises just that! It is an exercise program that efficiently and effectively combines the  proven best moves from martial arts, power yoga, and dance. How’s that for strength, flexibility and coordination?  And because XFLOWSION is the ultimate 3-in-1 workout that provides jaw-dropping results in 1/3 the time, I won’t need to spend all day, everyday working out.  The XFLOWSION work-out package includes 4 DVDS, 2 guidebooks and 2 audio CDs.  I am so tempted to give it a try!  There’s a 30-day money back guarantee anyway, so if nothing happens before the 30 days are over, I can just demand a refund.  Hee hee.

It would sure be nice to be in great shape again! I have to and I WILL make it happen…like an EXFLOSION! *cross fingers*

Dollar Finds at Target

I heart Target, but doesn’t most people?  A visit to Target isn’t complete without me checking out the dollar deals near the front of the store right next to a check-out lane.  There are a few things which cost $2.50 at most, but more than three-quarters of the stuff there cost only a dollar.

Last Thursday, Abby and I were in Target to buy birthday presents.  As always, I wandered off to the dollar deals section and was I glad I did!  Want to know what I got?  I won’t keep you in suspense for very long…

I got silicone cupcake cups in bright funky colors: red, blue and yellow.  $1.00 for a pack of 6.  I should have gotten 4 packs so I’ll have 24 cups.  Most recipes yield 12 or 24 cupcakes.  Hee hee.  I’ll get another pack when I’m back at Target, which should be some day soon. ;)

Lookey…ramekins!  Weee!  These thingamajigs can get a little pricey at so-called high end stores.  For a dollar per pack of 2 ramekins, I say this is a steal!  I got 5 packs.  The question is, what will I do with them?  Hee hee.   Souffle?  Creme Brulee?  It doesn’t matter.  The possibilities are endless. ;)

I could have bought a host of other things but had to restrain myself.  I’ll just save them for my next trip to Target. :D

Disney B-I-N-G-O

I was in grade school when I first attended a bingo social.  My school then held such an event as a fund raiser on a yearly basis.  Those days, there were none of the cool bingo markers that we have now.  Yes, the ones that come in different colors with blotting tips of different shapes!  Back then, we used corn kernels and small rocks as markers.  Hee hee.  The game of bingo has indeed come a long way.

As proof that BINGO has evolved and continues to evolve, there is now a Disney Bingo DVD game out in the market. It’s available online at Amazon.Com and Drugstore.com.  And because it is by Disney, you can be sure that it is a game that the entire family, the kids specially, will have loads of fun playing.

My daughter loves playing board games, the improved versions of the ones I played with when I was little.  I can bet we’re going to love this bingo game from Disney.   It’s a fun way for kids aged 3-6 to master numbers, colors, patterns and matching skills.  Just pop the DVD into the player and the video will automatically call in the numbers.  Parents can then focus on helping and making sure the kids get the numbers and patterns right.  But moms and dads can always choose to call the numbers themselves.  That makes the Disney Bingo an anytime, anywhere game.

Waddaya say?  Let’s play BINGO!

H-E-B’s Roasted Rotisserie Chicken

During weekends, I am almost always under a lazy spell.  I often joke about our home kitchen being closed on weekends.  Hee hee.  *wink*  Often, we have dinner out on Saturdays and lunch out on Sundays.  But coming home from a full day spent outside the home on Sundays, it’s just extremely difficult for me to whip something up for dinner.  And so, instead of a CIY meal (i.e. Cook-It-Yourself) we opt for the next best thing, a BIY (But-It-Yourself) meal/dish.  Our favorite?  H-E-B’s Roasted Rotisserie Chicken.

H-E-B, I could safely say, is Texas’ state supermarket.  And while other supermarkets (Target, Walmart and Randall’s) also have their storebrand rotisserie chicken, H-E-B’s is tops on our list.  The chicken is always moist, well-seasoned and just plain delicious.

The rotisserie chicken is available as a pack of 4 leg quarters (about $5.00 per pack) or as a whole chicken (about $7.00).  It comes in Original, Honey Jalapeño, Lemon Pepper, Italian Herb or Honey Mesquite.  Our favorite is the Original.  We often eat it with rice or with tortillas.  Our dipping sauce of choice is every Filipino’s favorite bottled sauce for roasted meat…Mang Tomas!  Hee hee.

We just love chicken and roasted chicken is a better option to fried chicken.  Personally, I won’t really mind having this every week.  But of course, I have an ulterior motive, that is, to avoid cooking on weekends. :D
