Viva Chocolato…the Second Time Around

On Labor Day, we treated a visiting cousin from L.A. to a most unusual late afternoon snack – chocolate! – at the posh chocolate and wine bar-slash-cafe  located at The Domain, Viva Chocolato.  Chocolate just happens to be my middle name, in case you don’t already know. ;)

It’s been over a year since our first and only visit to Viva Chocolato. That was July 2008.  One look at the truffle, gelato and cake selection reminded me right away that I am once again in chocolate heaven.    Why did it take us over a year then to revisit the place? Well, I found the answer at the end of our chocolate snacking. ;)

My little girl ordered the most expensive items on the menu, truffles.  At the minimum price of $2.50 per piece which could go up to $3.25,  I limited her to only two pieces.  Yeah, yeah, so I’m a real scrooge! Times are hard, you know! :D

I failed to take note what kind of truffles these are but I can tell you my girl loved them.  She now claims truffles to be her favorite chocolates.

After deliberating on what to order for a few minutes, cousin Rina and I decided to order mini cakes.

I had chocolate raspberry…

…while Rina had Pecan Praline…

Hubby decided on a chocolate, peanut butter and banana crepe…

The mini cakes were super moist and the frosting, rich and delicate.  Every bite we took was followed by “mmmms”.  We could barely make coherent conversation while digging in our mini cakes.  It was as if we were under a magic spell…a chocolatey one!  The crepe was very good as well.

Let me show you how the chocolate raspberry mini cake looks after it’s been sliced…

Drooling yet?  Here’s a look at the crepe…

Having seen all the above pics, you won’t be surprised to see this…

So why did it take us over a year then to revisit the place?  Because the desserts are so rich and sinful you need about a year to cleanse your palate.  Kidding! :)

I’m glad none of us are diabetics (knock on wood), specially our guest.  I doubt if health travel insurance covers chocolate-binging-induced attacks.  :D

Have a great week ahead, y’all!  Cheers!
