Hubby and I have always been intrigued by North, a restaurant at the Domain which serves modern Italian cuisine. Every time we go to the Domain, we always see that the place is so busy. The abundance and lack of diners in a restaurant, I believe, is always a good indication of quality. :) On Mother’s Day, I decided I want to have lunch at North, so we did. We just had to endure a 30-minute wait because we didn’t have reservations. Our bad! The wait was worth it, however. We were seated at the patio, much to my daughter’s delight.
For our antipasti, we ordered the Trio of Spreads: Eggplant, Hummus, Pesto Goat Cheese and Garlic Bread.
My daughter could have easily devoured this platter all by herself. Our unanimous favorite was the hummus, followed by the goat cheese and eggplant.
One thing about North is that they don’t have a kid’s menu. Oh well. For her entree, my daughter had Baked Ziti Bolognese…
It has spinach and ricotta and mozzarella cheese. Because my daughter had one garlic bread with spread too many, she only managed to eat a quarter, if not less, of her entree. At least, I didn’t have to worry about her school lunch the following day. This was a good-sized portion of Baked Zitti, which 2 kids can share.
Hubby’s entree choice was the Cavatelli with Spicy Italian Sausage, Tomato, Roasted Garlic & Braised Greens…
Both hubby and I like a little heat in our food. A little spice does wonders to one’s metabolism, you know. ;) We found the Cavateli to be ok. It just didn’t blow us away all that much.
As for me, I ordered from the special Mother’s Day menu. My pick was the Smoked Salmon and Asparagus Frittata…
I liked it. I liked the smoked salmon. I liked the cream. I liked the frittata.
Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience. The atmosphere is very casual and not at all intimidating. A lot of the diners were families with small kids. The staff was nice and courteous, not to mention good looking, too, not that the last bit of information matters. Hee hee. :D
You will easily shell out $50 for lunch or dinner, more if you are a family of 4 and you all order drinks. Remember, if your kids aren’t exactly hearty eaters anyway, they can very well share a hefty serving of pasta. :)
We’ve so far tried only 5 or 6 of the dining establishment at the old and new Domain combined. We still have a long list to go through. I think I shall make it my mission to try each and every one of the dining establishments …and shops and spa/salon (where, I wonder, if people can have their acne scar removal here? Oh forget I even asked that!).
I hope you’re all having a fine weekend. Cheers, y’all!
