Birthday Lunch at McCormick and Schmick’s

For the 3rd consecutive special occasion, we found ourselves at McCormick and Schmick’s, this time, in celebration of my birthday.  The first time we dined at M&S was on hubby’s birthday in November last year.  The second time was in January, our wedding anniversary, which is also the same date as my Mom’s birthday.  Yesterday, however, was the first time we were at M&S for lunch.  All the previous times were for dinner.  Lunch is a good time to be at M&S because they have very good lunch deals, when items on the menu are less than $15.00.

I had a refreshing iced tea infused with mango.  It’s funny how chic restaurants word the items on the menu, isn’t it? Hee hee.

For appetizers we had Seared Ahi Tuna atop seaweeds and cucumber slices. This was on the house, by the way. Yey! :)

We made sure we ordered our little girl’s favorite, Fried Calamari with a Fire Roasted Marinara and Parmesan…

We also had Crispy Buttermilk Fried Oysters with Lemon Tabasco Aioli…

How’s that for going all in on the fried stuff?!

Hard as I tried to convince my daughter to order something “smart” from the kid’s menu, she wouldn’t budge from her choice of Macaroni (Penne, actually.) and Cheese…

The penne looked so much better after I gave it a stir and each and every piece was coated with the creamy sauce.

Back home, it is customary to have noodles during birthdays as they symbolize long life.  So, for my main course, I had Seafood Linguini Alfredo – Bay Scallops and Gulf Shrimp in a Classic Garlic Cream Sauce…

I didn’t go wrong with my main course.  The portion was quite generous, yet, I finished it all! Yum!

Hubby also initially wanted the same thing I had but opted for the Salmon Penne Pasta with Saffron Cream, Asparagus and Cherry Tomatoes…

I got a bit of entree envy when hubby’s entree was laid down before him as his looked a tad better than mine.  Everything tasted good, too!  I love how saffron works like fairy dust on food.  Hee hee. :)

For dessert, I received the customary plate of chocolate cup filled with whipped cream and served with fresh fruits and a birthday candle for me to blow…

This dessert always ends up with Abby.

Kids’ Meals always come with a dessert of ice cream…this always ends up with hubby…

I always know which dessert to order whenever we’re at M&S, Creme Brulee.  However, this time, they didn’t have my usual creme brulee, the one I really really love.   What we had was more like banana mousse with caramelized banana slices and sugar on top…

It was ok but I like the real deal a heck of a lot better!

It was a very filling and satisfying lunch.  I could probably use some post-birthday colonix.  Hee hee.  And since we weren’t really on a strict schedule, it was very nice to eat at a leisurely pace. :)

Love, love, love McCormick and Schmick’s! :)
