E-Bill Me

August 31st, 2008

On-line shopping is something that’s just only beginning to appeal to me.  I’ve always thought it rubs one of a total sensorial shopping experience.  Plus, I can’t help but doubt the safety of on-line credit card transactions.  But now that E-Bill Me is here, I might just turn to online shopping a little more than I used to.  ;)

Two weeks ago, I bought these from TigerDirect.com:

a pair of Cyber Acoustics speakers and

Cyber Acoustics headphone/microphone.

These are a necessity for my family because we use these when chatting with our loved ones back home.  And our old ones desperately needed replacements.

In shopping for these, I got to try out E-Bill Me as a payment option, instead of a credit card, for the first time.  It was so easy!  In choosing E-Bill me, I didn’t have to reveal vital credit card and personal information.  To pay for my purchases, I used my bank’s online bill pay portal, the same one we use to pay for utility and other bills.  Piece of cake!  I also like how everytime one would use E-Bill Me as a payment option, the purchaser is covered by E-Bill Me’s Buyer’s Protection Program.

I recommend that you give E-Bill Me a try the next time you shop on-line. ;)

I Heart Coffee

August 28th, 2008

Coffee is an indulgence of Hubby’s and mine.    Since buying gourmet coffee can be costly, we just brew our own coffee at home.  We buy Starbucks, Seattle’s Best and Cafe Ole ground coffee beans and voila, gourmet coffee goodness at a fraction of the cost!

But we do treat ourselves to coffeeshop coffee every now and then, mostly at Starbucks and Seattle’s Best.  When we’re scrimping, even McDonald’s coffee does it for us. :D  In California, we were treated to Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf coffee.  And in Hollywood, we couldn’t resist the call of Nestle Toll House Cafe.

Nestle Toll House Cafe’s Frozen Chocolate Mocha to beat the California heat

I just absolutely love coffee.  Do you?

Greetings from Mammoth

July 14th, 2008

Hello y’all!  I’m on my 4th day in California, which explains the lack of updates.  That’s very unusual as far as this site is concerned.  Hee hee! :)  Currently, hubby, Abby and I are in Mammoth with relatives.  It’s gorgeous out here!  It’s a good thing that my cousin brought her notebook computer along.  Otherwise, I’d already be shaking by now for utter lack of computer usage and internet time. :D

I’ll be back soon, with plenty of pictures and stories from our food trips.  Promise!

Have a great week ahead! ;)

Grocery Shopping Day

June 28th, 2008

We do our grocery shopping on the weekends.  As much as I possibly can, I try to limit my trips to the grocery.  Because the more trips I make, the more inclined I am to succumb to impulse buys.  If I can help it, I’ll wait until I’ve used up whatever’s in the freezer for everyday meals.  :D  Are you anything like me?  Oh and between you and me, lists just don’t quite work well with me.  :P

Anyway, Friday is garbage disposal day.  And the night before, I scour the fridge and pantry for food items that have already expired and leftovers, which we thought would get another chance at the dining table but didn’t quite make it.  There were a few leftovers, some  bottled items, a bit of veggies and a carton of whipped cream that had to be thrown away.  I know, I know, what a waste!  If only I can secure term life insurance…or “shelf life insurance” for that matter, for grocery items.

I’ve actually improved a lot already.  :D  I was a lot worse a year ago when I was still new in the business of stay-at-home-mommying.  Hee hee.

Oh well, have a great weekend, y’all! :)

Personalizing Weddings

June 12th, 2008

It’s the “marry” month of June.  While I have reason to believe that June is no longer the month of choice for weddings, the words “June bride” and “June weddings” have already been deeply ingrained in our system. :)  So just for the heck of it, let’s talk a little bit about weddings.

Every bride wants her wedding to be unique and memorable (for all the right reasons).  I was guilty of such a want.  :)  The key to uniqueness, in my personal opinion, is to personalize as much of the wedding as you possibly can.  That way, you really make every aspect of your wedding, big or small, your very own.  So personalize our wedding we did. :)

The souvenirs…

and table/buffet centerpieces…

…were all handcrafted in our factory.  That’s one of the perks of being an exporter. ;)  The decorations used in the church were lent to us by another exporter friend.

Our wedding cake was a gift from one of our wedding sponsors who also catered our wedding.  I got the idea for the cake from a magazine.  But we did a few changes to make it our own…

Let us not forget the invitations.  We ordered handmade paper from an exporter friend who is into handmade paper and we printed the invitations ourselves.  They kinda looked like this…

Only, the material I used for the bow is rafia.  I snagged the above photo from 1st Class Wedding Invitations.  If we got married here in the US, I would have probably opted to order my wedding invitations from them instead and saved me a couple of sleepless nights putting my own invitations together.  This invitation looks handmade but it really isn’t.  :)  I checked out the site and loved the choices available.  There’s so many to choose from!  I especially liked the ZOOM feature on the website which allows site visitors to see every little detail of the invitations.   I believe this feature isn’t available in other websites.

That’s about it.  I’m no wedding expert but I loved everything about my wedding.  Because every bit of it was mine…and my hubby’s, too.  Hee hee. ;)

Did you personalize your wedding as well?  Or if you’re only in the planning stages, how do you plan to personalize your wedding?

Sushi Fix

April 29th, 2008

For a food fan like me, it would probably come as a surprise to most people to know that since mid-January, I’ve stopped eating beef and pork.  Just as easy as 1-2-3.  Crazy, huh?!  :D  But I still cook pork and beef dishes for hubby and Abby.  And one such night that I did, father and daughter bought me something from the supermarket (in addition to the real reason/s for their supermarket trip)…

sushi

…SUSHI!  How sweet of hubby and Abby!  It was made in-store at H-E-B, our favorite supermarket.  Believe me, it actually tastes good and costs so much less than if one were to buy it from a Japanese restaurant.  Come to think of it, we seldom order sushi at Japanese restaurants because of the outrageous prices!  Hahaha!  The price for sushi platters at H-E-B start at 4.99 (maybe even less!).  Not bad, ei?  I wouldn’t mind having this for dinner a couple of nights a week.  But that’s pushing it a little too far.  Hahaha! :)
