New Handy Tools for My Kitch

We were at the Ikea last Saturday to check out their Labor Day Weekend Sale.  They did have a lot of good deals….for things we don’t really need just yet.  Hee hee.  I bought 2 new tools for my kitchen and mind you, they weren’t even on sale.  Tsk tsk.

I finally had enough of slicing eggs with a knife.  You know how conventionally sliced eggs don’t really turn up so pretty.  So help me welcome my new egg slicer!  *claps*  ;)

I also bought myself a new garlic press.  The one I got as a present last January snapped in two a couple about two weeks ago.  It was a Good Grips garlic press.  It grips good, all right, just doesn’t last very long.  *ugh*  I’ve already used this garlic press once and I’m loving every bit of it.  It’s cheaper and so much better than my old one.

If only they can invent a similar contraption to rid of *whispers* blackheads. ;)

Do you have a favorite handy kitchen tool?

WW #24: Disney Princess Birthday Cake

My daughter had her 4th birthday party last Saturday and this was her birthday cake. I ordered it from Wal-Mart. It looked really pretty on the catalogue but turned out to be a little too simply in reality. Plus, I was the one who put the princesses on the cake! It was a little overpriced, I think. Anyway, it served around 40 people (kids and adults).

Cinderella lights up, too! Hee hee! Well, anything for my little princess.

I posted more party pics here, my other WW entry.  More Wordless Wednesday, here.

Happy Wednesday, y’all!

On Water, Filters and Faucets

We’re blessed in that this townhouse we’re renting is furnished with the must-have major appliances: refrigerator, dishwasher, stove/oven, microwave, washer and dryer.  We love the fridge because it has a built in water and ice dispenser.  The thing is, of late, the filter has gotten a bit costly.  It now costs around $50.00 and we have to replace it every 3 months.  This has left us to consider buying a hot/cold water dispenser, which, we think, is a worthwhile investment.  Then again, if we’re going to use the ice from our fridge anyway, we’ll still have to replace the filter just the same.  So upto now, we haven’t reached a decision yet.

Hubby was given a number of water filters by a co-worker.  Ones  that can be attached to kitchen sink faucets.  Too bad we can’t use them because they are not compatible with our faucet.  We are so tempted to take out current kitchen faucet, replace it with a new one and just re-attach the original faucet when it’s time for us to move to another home.  I’ve actually already started windowshopping for Delta faucets.  Oh well.  We’ll have to see how this will all come together.  Hee hee. :D

Motorized Ice Cream Cone

Do you like ice cream on a cone?  Would you eat ice cream on a motorized cone?

I haven’t decided yet if I would.  Hee hee.  I’ll probably try it once and decide from there.  Hee hee. :P

Indiana Jones Meal

Indiana Jones will hit movie theaters on the 22nd of this month.  I know and I’m sure I’ve seen Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Temple of Doom and The Last Crusade.  But for the life of me, I can’t recall what these movies were all about.  Hee hee!  There’s one tiny detail I do recall though…in one of these 3 movies, there’s a scene where Indy and his companions were served soup and in the soup were eyeballs.  Gross, yeah? :)

I think an Indy marathon is in order.  I’m thinking of inviting my friends and their kids.  And I’m sure the kids will get a kick out of this…

It’s a Chef Mario’s Dining Disasters Stretchghetti and Body Parts, another one of those crazy kitchen toys.  It looks almost like real spaghetti but really icky to the touch, plus the eyeballs.  But with the price tag at more or less $9?  Forget it!  We’ll probably just stick to the real deal, or just order pizza instead.

Holy Toast

Why anyone would want to have a toast like this is beyond me.

This is called “Holy Toast: The Miracle Bread Stamper that makes a heavenly breakfast!

Tsk, tsk!  I just don’t get it.  It’s supposed to be a “gag gift for those who believe in miracles.”  Not funny, I say.  Not funny.  Or is it just the Catholic in me talking?  Oh well.

Cool Ice

It’s already summer in the Philippines, my home country, and here in Texas, where I am now, it feels like summer already.  It’s safe to say that ice is at its most popular around this time.  Want to have stylish ice?  Check these out! :D

1.  Ice Spoon Mold

If you don’t like plastic spoons and at the same time dread having to wash real spoons, this might be perfect for you.  An ice spoon! :D  Every body loves a glass of iced tea so have one in style.  The ice doubles as a stirrer…stirrer you won’t have to clean-up.  Look ma, no more spoon! ;)

2.  Ice Kabobs

Spring & summer translate to barbecue/ grill season.  How about some ice kabobs to match the grilled meat kabobs?  Hee hee. :)

3.  Fred Cool Jewels

They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend…jewel ice, too! ;)

4.  Fred Cool Jazz

This literally jazzes up your drink. :D

5.  Ice Shot Glasses

This will be a big hit for those who love a shot. ;)  What’s cooler than a shot glass made of ice?  This is a reuseable mold which can be filled with water, juice or ice mix or whatever beverage.   Freeze it and it’s ready!

6.  Fred Cool Shooters

This isn’t any different than #5, but’s it’s cheaper by $2. :)

Happy ice molding, y’all! ;)
