I was looking for gourmet cookie recipies and somewhere along the way, I landed on David’s Cookies. Have you heard of them? I’m thinking if I were anything like Cookie Monster, I would have probably ended up chomping on my computer monitor! Because I’m telling you, the cookies and the rest of the goodies you’ll see on the site are such a feast for the eyes. They’re so gorgeous one can almost taste them!

I am so intrigued with the cookies that I seriously want to try them. David’s Cookies isn’t limited to cookies, which is why I feel they should consider David’s Goodies for a name. Well, it’s just a thought. You see, their selection of goodies includes cheesecakes, brownies and crumbcakes, cookie cakes, chocolate truffle cakes, tarts, ruggalach, scones, special diet items, etc.

If you absolutely love cookies, then you should consider signing up for the Cookie of the Month Club. You have the option of receiving either a 1-lb or 2-lb tin of cookies every month for 3, 6 or 12 months! Membership to the club makes for an ideal gift as well! Check out the website to see the featured cookie flavor for each month.

David’s Cookies have fabulous gift baskets, too! They are the perfect gift for any occasion, speaking of which, Valentine’s Day is coming up soon! How about sending people you love a bouquet of cookies in lieu of or with a bouquet of flowers? I still want my flowers, too, you know! :)

Now, how do I shake-off this sudden cookie craving? Ugh!

For a while, I got a kick out of taking online personality tests. It was all in the spirit of fun. When I started blogging, blogger friends would tag me every now and then, with sometimes outrageous personality type memes, from “What kind of wine are you?” to “What kind of herb are you?” And because I’m such a good sport, I indulge them whenever I can. Tags can be very good blog fillers, you know. ;)

There are people who enjoy taking personality tests. If you happen to be one of them, you can always take a free personality test on-line. A website called LearnMyself.com even provides a full report at the end of the test.

But how accurate are these on-line personality tests. LearnMyself.com claims that their advanced personality test is upto 86% accurate, depending, of course, on how truthfuly the test taker answers the questions.

The downside to this kind of tests? You may not always get the result that you want. Either that or you’ll realize that you don’t like yourself after all. *shivers*

Heads up all ye people with green thumbs…ok, orange thumbs are good, too!

If your community has been wanting to start or enhance a garden or a gardening project geared toward community involvement, neighborhood beautification, sustainable agriculture and/or horticultural education but lacks the tools or funds necessary to get the project under way, here’s your shot at finally getting it started. All you have to do is apply for a Project Orange Thumb grant!

Twenty grant recipients will be selected within U.S. and Canada, each of whom will receive up to $1,500 in Fiskars garden tools and up to $800.00 in gardening-related materials. In Australia, four grant recipients will be awarded, with each recipient receiving up to $1,000 in Fiskars Tools and up to $1,000 in gardening related materials. Isn’t this exciting news?!

The grant application is open to community garden groups, schools, youth groups, community centers, camps, clubs and treatment facilities. The deadline for application is on February 17, 2009. Please do take not that only group applications will be considered. Single individuals are not eligible for a Project Orange Thumb grant.

Visit the Porject Orange Thumb website for the complete rules and regulations. This, by the way, is not a sweepstakes or contest.

Go tell your friends and community leaders about it and apply now! A chance like this doesn’t come very often.

One of the first things I noticed when we moved to the US, our neighborhood in particular, is that on the front lawn of almost every house, there’s a small stake which bears the words, “Protected by ADT Home Security Alarm”, or words to that effect. I found out not too long thereafter that ADT is the #1 home security company in America. It’s amazing how that little sign alone deters robbers from entering a home!

ADT Alarm with Safepass

These days, one can’t be too careful, specially where the safety of self and property is concerned. That is why having a home security system in place is ideal. If you don’t have one yet, maybe it’s about time you gave it some serious thought. And if you happen to have one in place already, an upgrade to Safepass makes arming and disarming your alarm so much easier. Just a thought. :)

What’s the ideal gift to give kids? Toys? Clothes? Clothes are a practical choice but you and I know that kids are kids and given a choice, they will most likely choose toys over clothes. With so many choices, the big question is, which toy to give?
I’ll be buying gifts for kids between the ages of 0 and 12. Because I have a 4-year old daughter, it’s not too hard for me to guess what is most likely to appeal to the 3-6 year old set. I’ve been checking out the Mega Brands for gift ideas and for toddlers, mickey mouse cars are always an option, but I’m kinda liking the My Builds Mini Bucket Firehouse, specially for toddlers, 2 years old and above. It’s the architect in me, I guess. Haha!

For girls, one could never go wrong with a princess themed gift. My daughter will definitely love Sleeping Beauty’s Princess Room. It’s a 51-piece bedroom suite, which includes a Sleeping Beauty figure. It makes for good imaginative play, social development and stimulates a child’s story telling abilities.

If you haven’t decided yet on a particular present for your favorite little ones, it wouldn’t hurt to check out Mega Brands. They have a wide selection of toys for kids and the kids at heart.

Thanksgiving is next week already and after that, time will seem to speed up. Before we know it, it’s already Christmas. Thinking about it now, I feel a mild panic. I haven’t started my Christmas shopping yet! I somehow see myself cramming to cross out names on my Christmas list. I sometimes shop best under pressure and I know I’ll get it done somehow. Hopefully, I’ll be able to grant some Christmas wishes.

Half the stress of holiday shopping is coming up with gift ideas, the other half would be paying for the gifts. Hee hee. Stores are now competing to provide consumers with the best deals. One of them is Sears. Aside from great deals on a wide variety of items, Sears is offering what they call the Sears Layaway. It will allow consumers to shop now and pay later.

I already have gift ideas for majority of the people on my list. For my chocoholic friends, I’m seriously considering getting each of them a Wish for Joy Hershey’s Kiss Fondue. It would be so cool if one can enjoy a nice chocolate fondue in the comforts of home. For my DIY-savvy male friends, a Companion 34-Piece Home Owner Tool Set seems to call out to me. Every home should have a tool set, don’t you think? For my ultra feminine nieces back home, I’m thinking of sending them skirts and dresses. They just love dressing up!

Black Friday’s coming up and I hope to take advantage of the great deals and get some Christmas shopping done. ;)
