Kids’ Food Fear Factor

August 13th, 2008

I got this tag from my fellow Wifespeaks wifeys, Em and Maver.

Hubby and I love to eat.  And it doesn’t come as a surprise that our sheer love for food has rubbed off on our daughter, Abby.  Abby will eat anything I put on the table…vegetables, fruits, meat, fish, etc.  Like me, Abby has a sweet tooth, too.  I can’t say that there’s a food that Abby “fears”.  For me, the strangest food (if you can even consider it food) she just has a blast devouring, it’s the batter for baked goodies that’s left on the mixing bowl.  Here she is in all her mixing-bowl clean-up glory (I’ve posted these pics before but they’re worth reposting, if I may say so myself!)…

What’s For Breakfast?

August 1st, 2008

Em tagged me for this “Longest Breakfast List” meme.  Thanks, Em!

Since we got back from our California vacation, I have been missing breakfast.  Not intentionally though!  I’ve been waking up late because I’ve been sleeping late.  Hee hee.  I don’t want to eat breakfast when it’s so close to lunch time already.  Anyway, my usual breakfast is very simple, Turkey Sandwich with Whole Wheat Bread and Light Mayo and a huge cup of coffee.  On other days, I have cereal.  My favorite is the Strawberry Flakes variety and I’m not very particular with the brand.  Almost every supermarket has it’s own Strawberry Flakes brand.  I use unsweetened organic soymilk with my cereal or skim milk.

Hubby, if he had his way, will have TapSiLog (beef, fried rice and egg) for breakfast or either one of these…

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  What’s your usual breakfast?

The Longest Breakfast Menu List
Everyone likes to start their day with a comfort food for breakfast. What kind of food do you take? This would be a good way to find out your blogger friend’s favourite food for breakfast.

All you need to do is to put your name down, the country you are in and your favorite breakfast meal. Let’s see how we can have this breakfast ‘menu’ travelled all around cyberspace and learn what each blogger living in different country and what they eat for breakfast. This meme was created by a little lady with a penchant to spy around little baskets while marketing. Her favorite breakfast of the day is none other than Roti Prata, an indian flat bread. What about you? What is your favorite breakfast meal of the day?

1. Spymama, Singapore - Roti Prata 2. Janeth Vicy’s Life Journey, Philippines - Ham and Hotdog with Rice 3.As The World Turns, Philippines, Milk and Biscuits. 4.Just Me.. Eds, Philippines- Sausage and Egg with Garlic Rice/Fried Mash potato 5. Alpha, Philippines ~ McDonald’s Big Breakfast 6. Aggie, Philippines ~ Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich 7. Friday’s Feast One Hundred and Ninety-Six

Appetizer

When was the last time you had your hair cut/trimmed?

I had my hair trimmed very recently, Wednesday, 08 July 2008 at a Cost Cutters franchise.

Soup

Name one thing you miss about being a child.

I miss the fact that I only had to worry about what to eat and play with next.  Then again, I worried about my grades because I was such a nerd.  That part I don’t miss.   Hahaha!

Salad

Pick one: butter, margarine, olive oil.

Unsalted butter! :D

Main Course

If you could learn another language, which one would you pick, and why?

I’d like to learn French.  I learned how to speak German and in one of our travels with my Mom, we made a sidetrip to France from Germany.  I suddenly felt “lost” because I couldn’t understand a thing and was too afraid to say a single word for fear of mispronouncing words.

Dessert

Finish this sentence: In 5 years I expect to be…

…an even better version of me.

Appetizer

What is the weather like today where you live?

It’s skin pricking hot here in Texas right now.

Soup

On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how career-minded are you?

5?  I put my career on hold when we moved to Texas a little over a year ago.

Salad

What type of window coverings do you have in your home? Blinds, curtains, shutters, etc.?

We have white wood blinds on almost all windows.  Not our choice.  We’re only leasing. :)  They’re all right though. :D

Main Course

Name something that instantly cheers you up.

My daughter instantly cheers me up.

Dessert

How many times do you hit the snooze button on a typical morning?

You might find this weird.  I have three alarm settings 15 minutes apart.  Hee hee.  I only hit the snooze button once after the last alarm.

If you could live on another continent for 1 year, which one would you choose?

I’ve lived for 32 years in Asia.  I’ve been in North America for the past year.  I would definitely love to live in Europe for a year.  I can start with Germany because I speak a little German. :)

Soup

Which browser do you use to surf the Internet?

I’m using IE (please don’t hate me!) but I’ve already downloaded Firefox.  I’ve heard a lot of good things about it and I want to give it a try.

Salad

On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being highest), how much do you know about the history of your country?

I got pretty decent grades in Philippine history.  I think I can give myself an 8. :)  Let’s just not focus too much on dates and names.  Hahaha.  I’ve been through C-section already. :P

Main Course

Finish this sentence:  Love is…

…hubby, my daughter Abby, and my family in the Philippines. :)

Dessert

Have you ever been in or near a tornado?

No, and please God, I don’t want to be near one.

Do you consider yourself to be an optimist or a pessimist?

I am definitely an optimist.  My mantra is “think happy and positive thoughts”. ;)

Soup

What is your favorite color of ink to write with?

I’ve always preferred black ink for writing over any other color.

Salad

How often do you get a manicure or pedicure?  Do you do them yourself or go to a salon and pay for them?

This will sound pathetic but since we moved to the US, I haven’t had a decent manicure and pedicure at a salon.  Yeah, boohoo! :)  It’s ok, I realized I won’t die if I didn’t go to the salon for a mani/pedi. ;)

Main Course

Have you ever won anything online?  If so, what was it?

I won a $25 Target Gift Card for playing a game at Target.com sometime around Thanksgiving last year. :D

Dessert

In which room in your house do you keep your home computer?

The “undefine room” next to the living room.   Hee hee.  It’s actually my daughter’s play area.  I’ll have to rearrange it soon as I’m really out of place here.  Hee hee. :D
